DCS Global performs APPA Audits for LEED & BOMA BESt Certifications on Custodial Effectiveness. This is a 3 part process:
APPA is an organization described as “The gathering place for those of us engaged in the field of educational facilities management, and dedicated to the ongoing evolution of its professionals into influential leaders in education.” For almost 100 years, APPA referred to the Association of Physical Plant Administrators. At DCS, we use Bluebeam to get accurate square footages of facilities that do not have a room inventory. Bluebeam is a software program that enables us to view a scalable blueprint of facilities in a pdf format, which we can then mark up by room type. Working on a floor plan results in a chart of room types and their related square footages, which we then export into excel.
LEED or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design is a certification process designed by the U.S. Green Building Council and in Canada is supported by the Canadian Green Building Council. This Program is designed to bring out the best standards for the environment for a facility. This includes Green Cleaning, Day Cleaning, waste management, energy efficiency, light management, water efficiency and automated building management systems.
